I don’t think I have ever tried plaintain! There’s a couple of small Independent Caribbean cafés in Reading, I really need to sort my life out and try them!

Do you have a good recipe recommendation for plaintain, Keith?

Thoroughly recommend this place in Walthamstow, the owner is a really cool, friendly guy and the food was so good. Spud really soft and perfect :yum: also he gave us half a bottle of wine he was drinking and we all cheersed :wine_glass::blush:

Going to make some sort of creamy pasta dish for dinner.

  • With green pesto :leafy_green::garlic:
  • With roasted toms :tomato::garlic:
  • Why not both? :garlic::tomato::leafy_green::garlic:

We’ve done it two or three times at home and it’s been good but not great. The best ones I think I’ve had were from a place called Calabash in Glasgow.

I think you need to fry or roast at a slightly lower temperature than potatoes because the sugar burns quicker in plantain.

How’s this going?

Not started yet but will be having it about 7ish.

Might sack this off and get a chippy or a Chinese instead.
