drying their wings, right?
saw a couple swimming around a few years ago, actually fishing, was so cool
Yeah, they dont have oil on their wings, like a duck does. Allows them to swim further underwater and fish deeper than other birds. But the lack of oil means they get waterlogged feathers, so the heraldic pose (as you beautifully coined) is them drying their wings

Starting to look at wedding suits to get married in. Never wear a suit so this is a minefield.
