Lots more pubs were tied, meaning that they only had one brewery’s beers, but may have had different types of beer eg Mild or Bitter or Porter etc. Free pubs (those not tied to a single brewery) would have more choice, but more often when it came to lager, rather than ale.

Despite PubCos being more common now, that older style pub tied to a single brewery pretty rare these days.

Yeah agreed. The stuff that’s been released so far isn’t part of their live set (bar one song I think), so I’m hoping the new/live stuff is a lot heavier on record.
