We donβt really have an MMA thread so posting this here
Feeling quite melancholic this weekend after basing my plans around the UFC last night and the heavy way it ended (Khabib Nurmagomedov, mourning the death of his father, broke town in tears alone in the centre of the mat after winning and then eventually announced his retirement to honour his motherβs wishes that he not fight without his father as his coach)
Itβs been such a rare spectacle to have somebody from an isolated culture (Dagestani) with very un-Western values and aversion to fame become such a central figure in a popular sport by sheer brute force and talent (he obliterated his opponent last night, whoβs one of the toughest fighters on the planet)
