Thankfully yes, thank you. I left after lenny so I missed the encore but I’d rather that than miss the train.
Nice one. Glad u enjoyed it! Saw them at Barrowlands coupla weeks ago & they were immense. The ultimate fun time band!
Not a duff song in the set.
Yeah, it was wall to wall gold.
Friday’s gig was immense - cracking setlist, the boys played well and a good vibe in the crowd, 5/5.
Is there a new album in the works?
Think they have mentioned that they’re not thinking about it at the moment. Probably just an excellent payday and a chance to see if people are still keen, then they can come back in a couple of years with a new album.
was wondering if they’d go back and finish the album they were in the middle of making when they broke up. but maybe they’ve used those songs for other projects since.
As far as I know this was fully scrapped. I’d be curious to hear what they’d make nowadays, though.
Gaz implied on Saturday that there isn’t anything planned - said something on the lines that this could be their last UK date and if so what a way to go out, but very non-committal either way on it… could have just been generic stage banter.
Last UK date apart from all the summer ones that are already planned
Yeah, that was implied. I think he said “last night of what might be our last tour”, but I can’t remember exactly.
I did find it slightly ironic when they opened with ‘In It For The Money’…
I’d only say it was ironic if it wasn’t (probably) entirely deliberate. I think they’re entitled to a lap of honour, but wouldn’t want it to go on for years unless they make new albums.
I mean I totally laughed and doffed my cap, meant or not!
No two ways about it … was done with a full knowing wink.
Sensational show, I’ve been rinsing their albums / rarities all week since
i only ever had the Supergrass is 10 best of and it was very much enough for me, but post-gig i’ve ended up picking up I Should Coco and Life on Other Planets in Poundland. lovely.
If you see it anywhere then In It For The Money is worth a look as well; their set was two thirds that and I Should Coco.
In It For The Money has no poor track on it, and some of Supergrass’ very best.
I’m old, and so good did we think it was, that my mate and I proclaimed it the AOTY for 1997, above OK Computer !!
Ben
I’m not sure I disagree.
I certainly prefer IIFTM over OKC.
