Supergrass

Brilliant band. Got the Supergrass Is 10 compilation on now for the first time in a while and I’m having a lovely time. Does anyone activey hate Supergrass? Surely not.

A friend of mine slipped and broke his leg at Glastonbury because Supergrass started playing the pyramid stage and he was in such a rush to get away from them.

Tez really holds a grudge against them, even to this day.

Wonderful, wonderful band. I love ‘Wait for the sun’ off that comp (and b side to Lenny, i believe?). I’ll never get tired of those first 2 albums

Wonderful band!

Their show at T In The Park just after Alright became massive was incredible. Reckon there was double the capacity crammed in to see them.

Fav song?? Probably In It For The Money.

Got that when it came it and loved it. Didn’t think about them much for years after they split but made a last minute decision to go to the Belfast date of their reunion tour in February 2020 (close call). Wasn’t sure if I still liked them but they were loads of fun.

Think this is probably true, though I can also imagine there’s almost no-one who considers them their favourite band either.

My favourite band of all time? Supergrass!” Nah, can’t see it.

Everyone’s 11th favourite band I reckon.

Brilliant band. Just utterly joyous. Fave song is hard to choose, but this is right up there:

(coincidentally, I had no idea it had an official video)

Think this might be their best tbh

Gaz Coombes solo record matador is possibly even better than all the supergrass stuff.

One of them bands you don’t think you know any of their songs and then you hear then and you realize you do.

I have no strong opinion on supergrass.

The riff on Richard IIIrd still absolutely rips. I remember seeing them at a Leeds festival, maybe 2001? And someone went crowd surfing and walloped me right on the head and dented my glasses for the rest of the festival. Bastard.

They were my friend’s favourite band circa 1997. He even forked out to buy the Jennifer’s single

my favourite band at that time were Bentley Rhythm Ace (lol) I was 13. But imagine the joy when this came out:

I think I paid £12 to own this.

I was at that. They started with Mary as the sun was going down, I think. Instantly thought to myself “How the fuck haven’t I realised how good they are!” and bought IIFTM and Supergrass from hmv before I got the train home. One of the few absolutely perfect live sets I’ve ever seen.

Yeah, that sounds about right! I used to love in it for the money, and had the self titled after it, but never investigated further. Might go back in on them tomorrow.

Also remember a guy at school had the poster for I should coco on a wall right when you’d walk in, so that whenever you’d go round, all you’d see was Gaz coombes’ terrifying scream looking right at you
