Supermarket naan bread

Just up the road from Staffs Uni?

Looking on streetview it’s now 3 for a quid. Still good value, mind.

They remind me of cooking at uni! Jar of Pataks paste, chicken, natural yoghurt, bit of onion… And rice and a supermarket naan on the side

Those ones are the rubbish asda ones, the edges are ok but the middle is just flat.

This isn’t the one I use for plain nann breads (I go one up nearer Hanley, in like a mini supermarket) but, I do go this one from time to time for their topped nanns. :slightly_smiling_face:

You need to wet them

For me, a naan has to be flaccid. The consistency of supermarket ones is far too rigid.

If the naan don’t flop, leave it in the shop.

Got into making my own over lockdown, much easier than making a leavened bread as you don’t really need to worry about it rising, just roll it out and wang it in a frying pan with a bit of butter.

Dead easy to make your own - make sure you include some yogurt.

Fry up some garlic in butter, pour over the top, add a bit of coriander…

Hungry now and I’ve just had 2 parathas

Usually grill my naan tbh

I don’t trust our grill or oven… I like being able to look at the flatbread

I found the recipe I used and it was a yoghurt one, though, so I’m Team Yoghurt Flatbread

That post deserves more than the four likes it has had thus far.

Yep - one of those things that always looks impressive even though they’re really easy. (Parathas are a faff though - not technically difficult but time-consuming)

Missed a trick not having this discussion called Supermarket Naan Thread

Just use crumpets instead. Or hot cross buns.
