Yeah I was thinking instead of going to Sainsbos for a bottle of wine I could nip into my local across the road and buy one to take home instead, could do this with bottles of beer too or even see if they’ll do a deal on bottles of spirits if it helps them

Obviously not everyone can afford to do this but for those who can it’s an option

If possible I’d just go in and hand a worker some cash.

Crowdfunder to help keep Sister Midnight Records in Deptford alive. A lot of their income comes from putting on gigs, so they’re going to really struggle because of that in addition to reduced footfall.

@nemrac have you been to kanassa before? went on Saturday - gonna send them summink

Nope never been, I usually get distracted by Manjit’s Kitchen or the mackerel guys when I eat at the market but it sounds good

I like the Hug and Pint

Went to my favourite local cafe for lunch. Only about a third full so plenty of opportunity for social distancing.

Talking to the staff they seem desperate to keep running as long as possible/allowed. Have promised to come back later in the week if they’re still open.

Someone has started a website to collate local businesses in Newcastle who could use some help via donations or buying vouchers for purchases later.

Is that the Irish one?

That’s my second favourite. Number one is a biker wanker place commonly known as LMNH.

Bandcamp are waiving their share of purchases this Friday (20th), so all of the money from purchases will go to the bands/labels directly. So do some music buying there on Friday:

Donated a lil bit to PDV

My gym posted this yesterday.

And then this just now.

They are non-profit, but I guess they have to suspend membership and then ask to consider paying willingly.

I actually pay yearly, which I did in January so can’t get any money back anyway. Not that I want it, I just hope they survive.

Next month I was supposed to get a new bathroom. Reluctantly I’ve had to cancel.

a) my housemate works in events and exhibition websites and his hours have been cut and could be further.
b) If the builders had to self isolate, I’d me left with a half completed job and no shower for weeks or months.
c) My daily shower option was going to be the gym.

I feel really awful about it for the builder, but I don’t think I have an option.

My gym is gonna try to do online workouts and I’m gonna start paying for their lowest grade of membership while they’re closed (I usually do PAYG). My PT’s 8 months pregnant, her partner owns the gym and they’ve just bought their first house so this is gonna be a shit time for them and their staff and I want to help make sure they make it through. Not like I’m gonna be spending money on PT sessions or classes anyway and I had a go at one of their practice live classes and I think it’s worth it.

Hard situation to be in but you can only do what you can do. We’d planned on getting the bathroom done this year because the floor is totally fucked, like the floorboards are literally rotting and we haven’t used the bath in a year, but we thought the same as you and figured that having people in and out of our flat for several days wasn’t a great idea right now

Yeah it’s too risky especially if we lose our jobs, the savings will be needed.

Plus I don’t know where else to shower, apart from at my parents who live 15 miles away. And I wouldn’t want to put them at risk.

Big Issue vendors have been advised to stop selling on the streets but you can subscribe to the paper or digital version of the magazine

Got tics to the gig, a mug and cookbook.
