Talk to me about quicksand

Is it really real?
Any quicksand anecdotes?
Have been saying the word quicksand to myself over and over and now it doesn’t feel like it’s a proper word

it’s very real. Growing up on the coast we were warned about it all the time. I’ve stood in it and sunk a bit and then panicked and got out. That’s my anecdote. I did listen to the warnings though, which is why I didn’t die kermie !

I took this photo last year somewhere near Buxton, so can confirm it’s real, or at the very least, someone is responsible for spreading the myth of big quicksand:

Thank you, Richie! And I’m glad you survived.
Never got any warnings about quicksand when I was younger, feel like I should do some research in case I ever come across any

It’s the slowsand you really need to look out for.

The quicksand I’m looking at doesn’t actually seem very quick

You’ll know if you ever come across it. It will be wet and and gloopy. You can walk across it sometimes but your footprints will be deep. And if you stop, you will start to sink !!

Oh behave why has it happened again, it’s from a different source >:-[

Next time I’m in West Wales I’m gonna film my feet in it just for you. I hope I survive to share the footage (no pun intended)
