Looks like its arranged around Glastonbury so maybe snuck on a casual o2 date. No biggy.

Thought their Ally Pally show was incredible and would probably go to this if I still lived in London. More dates plz

Have I already asked this thread when they got so big? It seems like the sort of thing I’d have done, because I would like to know when they got quite this “big”

Think they really made a lot of new fans via the festival circuit in 2016ish. Remember their set at Primavera that year was incredible and seemingly everyone in attendance had the time of their lives (probably the 2nd most attended set after Radiohead that year too). Seem to have made the leap from 3-4 on the bill that time around to headliner status now (Coachella, Primavera, etc).

Brits win, Rihanna cover and the use of Let it Happen on just about every commercial under the sun probably didn’t hurt either.

Do often wonder how they go about identifying when indie bands like them, Arcade Fire, and The National have become mainstream enough to play the O2. Before presumably record sales would give a good indication but now all those stats have been warped by illegal downloads.

London 02 show is same day as Field Day. Bit of a crossover there.

Spotify streams innit. If the band has a consistently high number of streams on their tracks (not just one or two) then that’s normally the best indication.

Lots of people who claim the 1975 aren’t big enough to headline Glastonbury/Reading etc clearly haven’t had a peep at their streaming numbers

2013 seemed to be the time they started moving quickly up festival posters.

There’s a nice ol’ gap between those London and Blackpool dates there

Wow, the recorded version of Borderline sounds brilliant.

Borderline is miles better than Patience:

Think I might break my ‘no arenas’ rule and go to the London date

Had foolishly thought we’d have a new album by this gig. Still really looking forward to it but have already seen this set 3 times.

No word of who’s supporting yet.

Any new tunes other than Patience or Borderline?

I’ve been absolutely rinsing those two. They need to hurry up and release the album already

Have to admit I’m still not sold on Borderline. Feel that it just lacks whatever it is that makes Tame Impala so special. Patience has definitely grown on me though. Hook that midsection straight into my veins

No new tunes, but they both sounded really good. They have got a big arena production too now which is cool. The visuals for Let It Happen were particularly awesome.

Finishing on New Person was a bit of an anticlimax I must say, hurry up new album/setlist.

Bloody love New Person, Same Mistakes. The bassline, the chorus, the bit at the end of the keyboard solo where everything drops out of the low end… chef kisses fingers

Can understand that it’s a bit low energy as a set-ender though. Always wondered whether he thinks it’s his biggest song off the back off the Rihanna version?
