@steved we gonna just stand here and take this?

I find it’s not as bad/completely clear if I put milk in first. No idea why.

#science?

The alkaline hydro-enzymes in the milk attach themselves to the lime carbonites preventing scaling.

I got chatting with a guy in a beer shop about brewing. He paid Thames Water for a breakdown of what was in his tap water so he could tweak it to make something or other. I was just nodding at this point and edging toward the door.

My grandparents in law only have tank water. It’s fucking disgusting. Nobody told me this as I filled up all the water bottles for the 4 hour drive home. Quickly bought some bottled water from the shop, like I was Elon Musk or something.

what are german and french degrees?

Tap water at my last flat was always lukewarm. Mortifying on hot days and/or hangovers. Tried to keep bottles in the fridge.

Weirdly bathroom tap water at my parents is better than the kitchen one.

Definitely differs around the country. London stuff awful both for drinking and washing

This concludes my interesting tap water takes

  1. Don’t feel clean if I have to have a shower, wash hands etc. with soft water,
  2. and hard water tastes much better (can’t let it sit in the kettle though, has to be direct from the tap)
  3. Don’t think I’ve ever lived somewhere with a water tank for upstairs water, but I am willing to believe they exist

Don’t you know anything about water?

A degree of General Hardness (dGH or ‘German degree (°dH, deutsche Härte))’ is defined as 10 mg/L CaO or 17.848 ppm. A Clark degree (°Clark) or English degrees (°e or e) is defined as one grain (64.8 mg) of CaCO3 per Imperial gallon (4.55 litres) of water, equivalent to 14.254 ppm.

London water is a required sophisticated taste, your taste buds have just been dulled by all that whiskey. :grinning:

Is this a joke account?

did I ask about Clark degrees m8, of course I know what a Clark degree is

Nope! The water doesn’t feel abrasive enough to actually clean anything, like it just washes over you without removing any dirt

Got agree shower in hard water drink soft water

The beautiful sparkling healthy spa water of Bath, in Avon.

I could listen for hours to yeast geekery (even though I know very little about it) but water geekery does leave me a bit cold.

when we were kids my friend stayed over and drank the upstairs tap water and the next day he claimed he was sick because of it.

Ha! Touché :joy: :tumbler_glass:
