Sound like a problem with an idiot driver who can’t understand how maps work.

I’ve often paid black cab and mini cab drivers to deliver a package for me seeing as I don’t have an account with a courier firm. I need a box of records and CDs delivered to a band’s gig and I’m double booked? Taxi!

Yeah had a fair few amp-in-a-taxi debacles

This is something Unite negotiated for taxi drivers (“Unite’s Cab Section is the only truly national organisation for cab drivers.”)

I use uber but tip the driver to make myself feel better.

I struggle with Uber so much, I recognise all the moral qualms but I end up using them because they are so useful. When I had to get my daughter to an emergency clinic late at night, Uber were the only way to get there without waiting over an hour for a minicab. If they tightened up their shit, treated their drivers fairly, etc etc, I’d be a lot happier, even if meant putting the prices up.

Not sure how black cabs are still a thing tbh. Total ripoff pisstake. Treated like sacred fucking endangered cows in this country though, weird.

Mostly just racists who bleat about it tbh

Also, this

Oh, yes. That too. None of the bands at the gig has brought a guitar amp with them. They all expected one of the other bands to bring it, or for the venue to have one. So then we have to phone round some mates and borrow one.

Used to be that almost every black cab would have a rolled up copy of the Sun or Daily Mail visible through the windscreen so I always assumed that the drivers were mostly racist, backward, bigoted and capable of nothing more than remembering street names. My main issue with black cab drivers, though, is that remembering all those street names seems to leave no space for the Highway Code.

companies like uber/the sharing economy… it’s the future, even though there’s lots to dislike about it

the question is how to regulate the numerous industries that are going this way

it’s a fucking mess is what it is

Taxi drivers.

There is a massive difference - Literally opposite ends of the driving spectrum.

quick note to say that my dad is a taxi driver and is a great dude. :upside_down_face:

You could have people signing up to drive with Uber being registered with something like the Public Carriage Authority or whatever it’s called.

PETITION ALERT

Uber have apparently e-mailed the link to all their customers.

I’m pretty sure that Said Khan didn’t make the decision unilaterally and that it was one after a great deal of listening to experts in all the relevant areas. Tim Montgomerie is yet another person whose own convenience overrides all other considerations. Probably a Tory.

Well, why wouldn’t they?

There’ve been some pretty odd responses to this has to be said. Apparently other minicab firms don’t exist which is the first I’ve heard of it.

How did you KNOW??
