Really love how hard she’s trying not to laugh during the ‘straight to hell’ bits.

‘I got wasted like all my potential’

Oh, Taylor :joy::sob: how do you think normal, truely under achieving people feel?

Such waste, so multi platinum selling artist.

Truly ffs

Can’t remember if this is earlier or later than the original date

I think the original date was the 27th. I was expecting the worst, given other releases have brrn pushed back, this year, but from memory, not this time.

As an aside, I saw an apparent photo of one of the vinyl and it looked lovely.

Yeah, saw the email and was thinking it would be next year or something.

Thought it would, the Lover vinyl is a thing of beauty.

I still think the middle section is easily the best bit of the album and it makes the rest look worse by comparison - but the combination of lockdown 2 and the autumn/winter weather is really making Folklore start to click for me. Perfect November vibes innit?

Think I have to be honest with myself and say it’s better than Positions (“PERVO YOU DON’T NEED TO COMPARE WOMEN IN POP” :sob: I know! I just meant in my end of year rankings! Not that I’m even ranking that much stuff because it’s fairly unusual for me to really like an album)

Unrelated to Folklore chat, but Cruel Summer really is sensational isn’t it.

Yeah I’m digging right back into this in the evenings at the moment. Lovely.

Just re-visted lover based on this (well my re-cut that removes the duffers) and it’s great - and you’re absolutely right, Cruel Summer is the standout.

Realised I had no idea what she was saying in one part of ‘I think he knows’ though, which after asking @squandered and being told I was a fool who couldn’t hear properly, it turns out she couldn’t either.

The line is ‘like I want you, bless my soul’, she reckoned it was ‘like I want you, let’s not talk’, while I obviously was hearing the totally sensible ‘Like I want you, Let’s sluteau’.

Amazing that I had never questioned this.

actually lost it here

what did you think it meant??

you know… like a slutty chateau trip? maybe?

I don’t know, didn’t think about it too hard - she can make up words if she wants!

Out of interest, what have you removed? I was going to do a recut that removed tracks AND reordered the remaining tracks (I think it’s a poorly sequenced album) but never got round to it

Mine is only slightly re-ordered (why was lover track 3? completely kills the momentum of cruel summer), but I was very harsh and cut a lot of it… but what’s left is great:

I Forgot That You Existed
Cruel Summer
I Think He Knows
The Archer
Miss Americana
Cornelia Street
Lover
False God
Afterglow

Bit harsh on death by a thousand cuts - that probably should be in there to round it to a nice 10 tracks.

Oh wow, you really went for it. I think I’d only remove London Boy, You Need To Calm Down, ME and the one with the Dixie Chicks. The problem is more in the sequencing than the songs themselves I think, too many slow/quiet ones in the second half

those were the main offenders for sure, but I didn’t like ‘the man’ and also found the last two a bit nothingy.

Think I’m quite harsh on her though, I also cut reputation down to 9 tracks! folklore made it to 12 though, so that’s something!

Ooh, interested in the Reputation cut…

I think it’s better than most give it credit for but I really like Ready For It and Look What You Made Me Do, which were both panned on release  Gorgeous is awful though.

Managed to get a guy I fancied (very briefly a DiSer when I wasn’t even a teenager) to enjoy 1989 and Folklore :sunglasses:
