That Australian Breakdancer at The Olympics

I’m sure this has been discussed in the sports thread but it’s unavoidable at the moment so I’m making a thread. Had no idea what was going on but just read this article which was useful

We’ve been having conversations for the last 2 weeks about if you were to be dropped into the olympics and have to compete at something, what would it be. Finally I’ve found it! I can dance like that.

Have a feeling she’s going to leverage this into a career of game show appearances

“Breaking”. Count how many times you hear that. Truth is it’s simply “breakdancing”.

Points deducted for not spelling it Raygunn

Every single meme of her has made me laugh. Just a very funny thing to have happened.

Before the highlights of the final on the BBC coverage they asked a few of the competitors to explain why casual viewers should be interested and how the competition worked. The one they used the most of was Raygun. (Because she explained the latter the most clearly and her PhD was in the subject, but even so)

Also, just to emphasise that breaking isn’t coming back any time soon, this earned a disqualification.

Every olympics needs their Eddie the Eagle/Eric the Eel

She’s just the latest in a time-honoured tradition
