That bit, you know.
In When I Kissed the Teacher by ABBA when they sing “one of these days, gonna tell him i dream of him every night”
Eugh.

The bit where the oboe comes in on Some Distant Memory by Electronic, just after three minutes
All electronic up until that point, and then the absolute gorgeousness…
My eyes are getting dewey just at the thought of it
edit - sorry, not a lyric. does it still count?
Oh and that bit in Cry to Me by Solomon Burke when you you hear his voice bouncing off the studio walls. Good grief. So good.
Of course, still counts
Dear LORD this is good.

The final line in Trust by The Cure get’s me every time. There is so much heartache, anguish and desperation in the line:
“I love you more than I can say
Why won’t you just believe?”
Cant get enough of it. Sort of sad the song likely gets written off a bit because of Dirty Dancing but fucking hell, so glad it wasnt produced in a way that the obviousness of the room was removed from it. Could listen to it forever.
You say you don’t know what love means anymore
Since I found you
I’m tearing down the walls, the walls, THE WALLS THE WALLS THE WALLS THE WALLS
Puff the Magic Dragon
A dragon lives forever, but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant’s rings make way for other toys
One gray night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And Puff, that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar
His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain
Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane
Without his lifelong friend, Puff could not be brave
So Puff, that mighty dragon, sadly slipped into his cave
Brutal
I listen (and cry) to the Will Oldham version of this a worrying amount. Have you heard his version? He does this “oh” that’s heartbreaking
I started bawling just reading the lyrics when i searched for them to copy just now. I’m not sure i need it amped up but will check it out
World’s saddest song. Used to listem to Martha if i wanted to get my cry out but its nothing on this
Two Little Boys used to come close but the association with Rolf Harris has killed it
Not listened to it in years, but the last line of Easyworld ‘Kill The Last Romantic’ always used to make a boozy me turn into a quivering wreck. Wonder if it holds up.
Edit: ‘Tonight’. KTLR is the album title (and last line).
Edit 2: Oops, no isn’t that song at all. I’m having a 'mare here
Edit 3: Maybe it IS called that hahaha fucking hell. One wine at lunch.
Learned to sing that with my class in primary school so even just thinking about the lyrics I start welling up.

It’s not a fancy line but in the devotional section at 2:40 when the trio Bulgarika swell up and our Kate pushes her voice til it squeaks, “IIIIII’ll do it for you”, full on committed. I feel those squeaks.
The bit in Neil Young - Speakin’ Out when he says “take it away Nils” and then the Nils guy busts out a ripping guitar solo
