so much this
was really into 5ive - remember going into woolworths (!) to buy their album when it was released, and spent my pocket money on all the singles, but it never even crossed my mind that they were bad boys ![]()
Nobody seems to remember the original bad boys, so bad they formed a legal corporation - Bad Boys Inc.
Their management got them onto an episode of ITV’s Neighbours From Hell, in a kind of “this boy band who share the house next door keep us awake partying at all hours!!!”
The other story on that week’s programme was a murder.
that is my dad’s number one favourite fact to trot out at christmas
My auntie chose stay another day for my uncles funeral and it’s kind of ruined it for everyone i know
That’s an astonishingly thoughtful and well written response. Few people could reflect that honestly on the nature of his experiences and that relationship and even less could then successfully put it into words.
Kudos Robbie.
I swear they used three or four Haxan Cloak tunes in the first episode alone, not that I’m complaining.
I have no memory of them being called bad boys
I do remember them saying they were a ‘lad band’, not a boy band, tho ![]()
I’ve heard much more tedious dadfacts, tbf to your dad
Yeah really enjoying this. I read Reach For The Stars recently too and both of them make the whole thing just seem incredibly bleak.
Thought 911 came across really well in this, love what they’re up to now.
If you would like more “god the 90s were pretty bleak weren’t they” fodder, the documentary about Loaded on the iplayer is also in the same vein.
Honestly fame just seems like a nightmare. Especially when you get to a level where hundreds of people depend on you keeping the show going, at that point you are a prisoner.
saw a bit of that one as well. that curly haired chap who was the editor or something really wasn’t having any criticism that they were part of the lad culture which got out of hand
Insane how people can’t reflect properly (much like robbie said in his letter)
Yeah James Brown came across fully delusional eh - I get that its something he is protective of, but c’mon man!
Really felt for Gail Porter - went through all that shit and they didn’t even pay her!
Thats him!
The other chap made me ‘laugh’ who started nuts or zoo. Anything you regret? well, my wife mentions when we used to approach girls on the high street to strip for the magazine and yeah, that doesn’t feel great in hindsight.
No shit mate!
was just trying to remember Gail Porters name! Totally shocking how she was treated. Almost unbelievable if i hadn’t lived through it!
shocked to find out that gary barlow was always a twat
Assumed that’s who @barleysugar was referring to as “actual ballsack” in the op.
Absolutely lost it at “Tim Henman’s legs”
