It’s a tricky one. I don’t stream music because I want the artists to receive a reasonable fraction of the money I spend on them, yet I have and enjoy my Readly subscription. I guess my justification is that I’d stopped buying all print magazines*, so in the end they’re getting some (small) amounts of my money rather than none whatsoever
I regularly bought Kerrang!, NME, Melody Maker, Vox, Q & Select (and others intermittently) as a teenager/twentysomething, but eventually stopped them all as the content I actually wanted to read dwindled or they went out of print. Readly is perfect for that: I always want to read the reviews in all magazines, and articles-wise there’s usually a magazine or two’s worth of interesting content spread between Q, Mojo, Uncut, Prog, Record Collector, Metal Hammer, Classic Rock, Electronic Sound and Long Live Vinyl (the last of those is probably my favourite at the moment)
*Not entirely true, I still have a physical subscription to Sky & Telescope
