It holds up, not that much was OTT or cliched compared to other similar films. And great soundtrack and score too.

I watched Little Shop of Horrors at the cinema today (the director’s cut with super depressing ending). It’s great of course, but god knows how it has a PG certificate over here, considering the domestic violence, drug use (Orin Scrivello DDS is not far removed from Frank Booth, funny how both films came out the same year), dental torture and people being chopped up.

Watched On Body and Soul. Very hypnotic and beautifully shot. Two very likeable leads.

I’m watching Carrie for the first time in about 15 years and my word it’s… not good. Good performances from sissy spacek and catherine martell but the direction is poor and it’s shot like a soft porn film.

Standard 35mm prints, of the sort that you now have to seek out at specialist screenings but which used to be standard in every cinema, is roughly equivalent to 7k. So yeah, bit of a con.

Or rather, cinemas now having downgraded all of their screens (in order to get rid of actual human projectionists) now selling as a bonus something that is objectively worse than the technology that used for most of the 20th century.

Never mind that, it cost almost $200 million! They must be crazy, is the film really going to make more than half a billion dollars (which it will need to to make a profit)
