The 2017 Film DiScussion Thread

Here’s LWL’s top 100 of the 90s:

The Game? OK, they’re trying too hard.

not seen it, but a few did appear to be reaching, yes

I can’t totally begrudge a list that has After Life in the top 40 though

so is Mystery Science Theatre apparently

had basically written this off but massive curveball from p-brads

It’s shit

yeah gonna see this and The Salesman this weekend. Nicely linked names

Morning Glory is on TV tonight which is surprisingly great

did you see clouds of sils maria? coz i hated that

I haven’t but I’ve heard similar things about it. Don’t get me wrong, Personal Shopper is worth a watch and has some pretty cool stuff in it, but it’s final scene is laughably bad

What’re the issues you had with it? Seemed to be getting loads of positive buzz three or four months ago but that’s gradually turned into negativity. A shame because I’m quite into the set up.

Get Out is finally screening from this weekend, think I’ll see that instead.

It’s really stupid, mostly

Also it’s hilarious how much Kirsten Stewart doing what she always does is suddenly regarded as a masterclass in acting

I thought she was absolutely superb in Still Alice.

will probably give this a go coz felt clouds of sils maria had potential but that the director had a ways to go yet. he wasted juliette binoche and i ended up turning it off halfway through. will see.

Not seen it. Anyway I’m not saying she’s bad per se, just that she only really does one thing (be a bit moody and Doe eyed)

Seeing it on Saturday, I’m not hopeful…

I might go The Salesman this weekend/next week too. Anyone seen it, seems pretty #acclaimed
