I came into this year looking to increase the amount of music I listen to that was made and written by women. And how the women have risen up to meet me… There might have been albums I listened to more, but I honestly cannot fault any of these 5 albums, all of which have thrilled me in their own brilliant way, most of which are by artists I’m new to, and the one I’m familiar with creating a whole new lexicon to her sound. The sad part is there’s another 5 just below these; Holly Herndon, FKA Twigs, Anna Meredith, Rosie Lowe, K Á R Y Y N. All great. More please!

Addendum: I’m waiting for the physical release, but I fully expect Caroline Polachek to make it on to this list early next year.
