The 2025 DIS album of the year polling thread (Votes Closed)

Greetings! That time of year where we take the finest releases from 2025 and pit them against each other in a bid to discover who reaches the top of the greasy poll is finally upon us!

I will be standing in for @Prob500 running the admin and data crunching for this year at least, and then @Severed799 will be along in early January to host the glittering black tie event as the winners are revealed.

This is the polling thread for our albums of the year. It will remain open until early in the New Year. Prob has got the running down to a fine art over the years (well over a decade!), and so I will be changing as little as possible in its structure.

To participate, please provide your top 5 albums of the year. In the following format:

  1. Name of artist who released your favourite album of 2025 - Name of album.
  2. Name of artist who released your 2nd favourite album of 2025 - Name of album.
  3. Etc
  4. And so on
  5. Name of artist who released your 5th favourite album of 2025 - Name of album

As usual, please:

  • no discussion in this thread, Iā€™ll start another thread for all discussion to go in.
  • please only make one submission. This will be open for more than a month. If you are ready to give your list now - great! But if you think you might want to change your list before the thread closes please wait to submit.
  • I will post plenty of reminders as we get close to the time that the poll will close, so nobody should get caught out.
  • please provide your five albums in the format above (eg. 1. Artist Name - Name of Album).

Those four things will make my life easier when collating the results.

Really enjoyed the Deadguy reunion album, too.

Honestly struggling to think of much else. I listened to more music, and went to more gigs, than ever in 2025, but struggled to connect with much released this year. Was very disappointed by a few reliable old favourites (Propagandhi, Rise Against, Young Widows, DRAIN, Turnstile).

The big hitters this year, Big Thief, Alex G, Beths all had efforts a bit below their par IMHO although enjoyable. These are my top 5 by listening minutes spent and Iā€™m happy to go with that.
