This albums Frankie Sinatra or Frontier Psychiatrist is probably ‘We Go On’

Yes, but it’s a very domesticated version.

In my top 5 for the year. Just had a lovely 2 hour drive with it on

It really is great. Why did they release it December, thus missing out on end of year lists, in that case? Did they deliver the album too late? Did they not want it to be released against other proper releases (rather than the best of’s that come out in December)?

I think artists care less about those lists than we do.

Artists don’t, but I imagine they translate into sales by being on lists, so record labels probably care.

Probably matters more for a new artist than an established one.

Obviously it has missed a lot of end of year lists, and It may be a bold statement to make in the first year of this decade. But I wouldn’t mind betting that it makes a few ‘best of the decade’ lists in 2029.

Lists will be determined by our robot overlords (who I for one welcome) by then though.

I know it’s only been out a few days but I’ve just had it on during a dark and rainy drive and I think it might be my favourite album of the year. I’ve definitely not had another listening experience quite as a good.

The whole thing is just so lovely.

Have listened to this a fair few times, is alright. Went back and listened to SILY. Christ, that is a brilliant album.

Thank god. I listened to it a few times and thought my brain must be wired wrong to think it sounded a bit too polite and nice and just okay.

(That one about California reminded me of the better songs on that thread about Len and their ilk)

This is a brilliant review (do really like Sherburne’s writing).

Have listened to this on repeat over the weekend having been entirely non-plussed by the singles and protracted rollout. It’s really beautiful and I love how ‘low key’ it is after Wildflower. A third excellent album, even if they’ll never alter my life like they did with the first.

Been listening to this record constantly - it’s great

It’s a really daft thing to base any metrics on but noticed how high up on the charts The Avalanches are on Last.Fm now which suggests to me this record is doing very well for them. I’d suggest probably doing better than Wildflower when that launched

Virtual DJ Live Show this Saturday.

The needle drop gave this album a 5??!

I really like this.

I think some variation of this has been said about 10 times in this thread but if the Avalanches had done Since I Left You and gone away forever, that would have been OK. But the strength of these last two records has been such an unexpected pleasure.

The Sananda Maitreya singing on Reflecting Light is the artist formerly known as Terrence Trent D’Arby! Did everyone else know this already?
