The owners of the avclub fired all their good writers who were based in Chicago after they refused to move to LA💀. Could probably have been a load of good writing about the show if they hadn’t

Episode 6 starts with 256 weeks to open but that would be 4 years and 12 months before open, which I’m sure they said was in May not November/December. This sort of thing bugs me. Am I going wrong or are they?
I think it’s good that it shows that Carmy’s chucking away his relationship cause he’s dedicating his life to his horrible job. Just showing it through the fridge door like that wasn’t very good. It would have been better built over time. I didn’t think it was creating drama for no reason
They should get rid of Matty Mateson cause I think the show is probably going to ultimately have a bad take on restaurants and he’s the boss of like ten of them. His advice to the writers probably isn’t going to be that they shouldn’t exist.
that the restaurant fails in season 3. I think it will. I think the show sort of loves restaurants a bit. Even though people are smoking crack and vomiting after service and ruining their relationships for them

The entire Copenhagen episode was a beautiful piece of…ambient?..storytelling, it wasn’t plot plot plot every scene it was just…lyrical. Everything breathed. No surprise that Hiro is involved with this as well as Atlanta. He understands exactly why The Sopranos is the GOAT - fuck the plot, fuck the snappy dialogue, it’s all about story and mood, and the more meandering and artful the better.

Reminded me a lot of one of the later episodes of Atlanta that episode. All vibes and sort of dreamy really - how nice would it be to go somewhere beautiful just to get better at something you enjoy doing? It’d be like sending me to somewhere remote in Ireland to workshop guitar playing with Kevin Shields haha
Episode 7 also loved the Richie episode for similar reasons though there’s a bit more of an emotional journey and comedy in this episode

Start season one on Weds. Just finished season two. Absolutely astound. I weller up unexpectedly a few times in season two.
Love that the director grew up with the original Mr Beef, and that he was really involved in the incredible soundtrack

Might have my timelines wrong as I binged the whole thing in 3 days… but didn’t they move the opening to 10 weeks time in the next episode? Was a much longer time period before that.

Can’t believ how quickly i hoovered up series two and now o have no more The Bear to enjoy. Thought it was thoroughly great, just spending time with these characters.

Enjoyed the love interest bit. I guess it could be a misstep depending on how the next series pans out - tries to win her back or just moves on, both of which dunno might be quite a diversion…Copenhagen and forks were both superb telly. I’m guessing we were supposed to think josh was the one trapped to begin with. This gave me so much dread and then it wasn’t him. The beautifully frustrating bit of the whole final episode was that if he wasn’t trapped he would have known how the rest DID cope and they CAN thrive without him and this would allow him happiness (?) with claire but also he would have his restaurant. But then also he’d be unsatisfied knowing he had a slightly lesser role in that success. The sort of gut wrenching drama that i love/hate the frustration of - utterly compelling.Just loved it.
