Where’s Tremblers and La La Land?!

Just reading a couple pages of this now. Some really enjoyable track descriptions here;

Unrelated but every time I see the name La La Land I get this banger in my head

I think I’m right in saying the guy who runs the blog has become a parent in the last twelve months or so, so I guess his energy levels are not quite what they were beforehand :baby_bottle: :baby_bottle: :baby_bottle:

Ah well, fair enough!

I think he’s one of those GBV fans that comes at them from the other end of the spectrum than me. He really really loves Crystal Nuns Cathedral, for instance, and is pretty lukewarm to the ones I really rate. I gave Go Back Snowball a relisten earlier after reading his review. I still think it’s fantastic!

Yeah although he’s clearly a massive Bob fan, I appreciate the fact that he isn’t afraid to call out a dud when he hears one. Plus he has an entertaining style of writing.

Yeah, he’s honest, which is great. I think with GBV, though, a track you might ignore for years can suddenly strike you as genius at a different time. I used to hate Do The Collapse. Love it now!

That site is great, but I’m not sure I can trust anyone who doesn’t rate taciturn cave or bulldog skin…!

I might do a playlist of 5/5 tracks for ones I haven’t heard (though with how short tracks are it’ll probably take me longer to make than listen to)

Also chicken blows is a 5 every day. Argh, why am I like this?!

Most GBV fans really dislike ā€œBulldog Skinā€, I think?

I don’t mind it, but musically it’s pretty far removed from the typical GBV sound of that era.

I mean, it’s different sure, but it’s enjoyable to me, and given the amount of stuff churned out, I don’t see how people have such a problem with it.
These are the people who pretend to enjoy the random 8 second fragments of nothing on some albums

ā€œMTV Oddvilleā€ - title definitely checks out tbf :laughing:

it’s not a show I’m familiar with, but looks like they had some good music guests over the years

Screw it, I’ve changed my entire opinion of the song based on that. 5/5 stone cold classic now.

Yeah, it made me see it in a fresh light.
