This is the actual AI effort for the Styles cover. Think I prefer it tbh
I think itās got some real strong tunes on it. Itās not very cohesive on the whole, but thereās a lot of quality. Bob mentioned Dance of Gurus becoming a bit of a hit or live favourite or something in that set from the other night. Then they opened the following gig with it too. Razor Bug, has become a bit of a latter day oddity/in-joke in the Fb group as well.
So I found out today that you can see all play counts on Spotify desktop. So being a boring person I thought this was really interesting news. First thing I checked was GBV plays of all current line up albums. 2 songs were quite far above any other. In the 500kās where nothing else has hit 400k.
One I think it pretty easy but 2 may shock you! Guesses welcome!
Manā¦ thatās tough. I think it would be something relatively recent - Alex Bell?
Good guess but nope.
Iām guessing Rally Boys and maybe Volcano?
Was gonna guess Rally Boys as well. Not sure what else. Space Gun?
Volcano! Ding ding ding! That was the unexpected one.
Space Gun was the other , but that one had a video and things , so expected that one.
Really dig that tune.
Ah Volcano, my first ever GBV song
I was vaguely aware of the band name, but had never paid them any attention whatsoever until a Stereogum article mentioned that Bob had recently released his 100th album (August By Cake, I think?), which piqued my curiosity. I played the recently-released Volcano kinda expecting it to be some half-baked rubbish, only to be properly blown away by what I heard. Such a fantastic, gorgeous song.
Yeah so do I, quite unique for a GBV song, wish they do more with that kind of sound. Obviously worked 500 thousand people canāt be wrong!
Sounds like it could be on Trompe le Monde
This came on after playing a GBV song on Spotify;
Great little chunky song
Edit - āsoul manā by Tobin Sprout
Didnāt realise heād re-recorded that one for himself
New Circus Devils album incomingā¦
Would maybe be good for him to slightly scale back the GBV releases and channel some of the songs into some side projects again
Twenty new Circus Devils songs, the same year as three new GBV releases and another one already being finalised for next year
Bob never sleeps.
Haha, yeah. I guess the Tobias bros are just beavering away on stuff all the time and they just chuck Bob stuff to spiel on now and then. Didnāt ever expect a new CD album though!
