No Cities Left is an all-timer for me.
Find most of their stuff since fairly lightweight, with the odd gem. Everything before No Cities Left is cracking too.
Taking it to the Grave from the last album is fantastic, love it.
When I was a youngun I posted on the internet (twitter maybe but can’t remember if that was around then) that I was gutted to be missing The Dears playing as part of Bella Union’s 10th anniversary. Natalia from the band messaged me and told me she’d put me down 2x on the guestlist. Such a lovely thing to do for a young fan, didn’t need to, I didn’t @ her begging or anything, she just saw it and decided to be nice. Was a good night.
Had tickets to see them in Bristol (should’ve been last month) but has been postponed of course, looking forward to the rescheduled gig.
One of my top ten gigs ever was them at the Northampton Soundhaus on a baking hot June night, in between No Cities Left and Gang of Losers.
Stuck the new album on a while ago and it isn’t doing much for me, but they’ll always have a big place in my heart.
