(Sony Animation Studios have had a Popeye film “in production” for a decade now)

didn’t know that, I like to think about Robin Williams from time to time though to get a real range of emotions from warm childhood nostalgia to deep sadness

There are different schools / methods / theories of acting so people who are familiar with them can probably distinguish certain techniques and tics.

would be boring to watch films or tv if you were an actor though, would seem very fake

I did vote for Paul Rudd and did not vote for DDL

I guess actors enjoy watching other actors doing their “craft”. Musicians generally appreciate watching other musicians they admire, right?

I appreciate your contribution to the overall tallies

Only made one film in the last 8 years, you’d think he’d make more of them what with him being so good. Bit lazy tbh.

I have a family friend who’s now quite a successful actor, and she loves films and that. Always banging on about how great someone’s performance was in something.

He is “retired” now

yeah that’s probably true from a mechanical standpoint but in music you are already doing something abstract it’s not like you want people to believe you are the A minor chord

Forever the best story about going method

He’s vv pretty in My Beautiful Launderette

reckon method acting is the only true form of acting

Probably got a big part coming up as a retired person and putting some time into getting the character right.

like in most things we ask for people to listen to those with direct experience before forming our opinions, method acting is like the actor taking things seriously right?

in a sense…aren’t we all the greatest actors when we play the role of ourselves?

No I’m terrible at being myself

It’s a relatively modern idea that the sole goal of acting is to make people believe that you are actually a different person in a particular setting though. The performance of acting can also be about inspiring emotion or representing something abstract. I don’t watch Nic Cage and think “yes, that is how a real person behaves”, it’s more than that.

maybe that’s just a nuanced character trait and you are playing it perfectly!
