Did once attempt the Michel Thomas CDs after 5 years at school got me a D for GCSE.
It was okay but while he tells you how to form complex sentences, there’s precious little about parsing the replies.
Moreover at disc 6 you start to get into words that sound exactly like different earlier words and my brain started to melt.

Solution: do them both simultaneously, reading alternate chapters.
Villette by Charlotte Bronte is June’s book
Whilst it is unlikely to get a sensationalised film adaptation this book is a favourite of a very close friend of mine so it always means a lot to be rereading it, now for the third time. I personally think it blows Jane Eyre out of the water.

I’ll make a thread and schedule soon, hopefully with fewer mathematical errors than last time… I think it’s a bit longer than Wuthering Heights so the club might continue into early July.
672 pages Penguin Classic vs Wuthering Heights’ 419 but maybe more translation footnotes in this one.
Yeah, I’ve got a physical copy at home so I can gauge it when I get in tonight.
I also own Wuthering Heights so don’t know why I decided to do guesswork with that 
Villette is the other novel I wrote my MA dissertation on, in conversation with Wuthering Heights! 
I’m not sure whether I’m in the mood to read it again, but it’s wonderful

Belatedly suggesting Lonesome Dove for a future one.
And if I’d have seen this I would have suggested East of Eden. There’s a Florence Pugh-starring adaptation out in the autumn.
