It’s related to acting but its not it for a whole variety of reasons, one of the main ones being physical safety in that exact moment, but also due to communication and agency/expression and reacting to unintentional or other unpredictable developments. It’s it’s own thing.

You’re probably right, but I have this blindspot for sport, where I think being very single minded is necessary and perhaps you have to sacrifice pleasing others to succeed.

I accept that emotional investment in arbitrary competitions is pointless, but it fills the void doesn’t it?

That’s fine was just meaning sports has a competitive element which I wasn’t aware of in pro wrestling, different kind of physical prowess which I can’t only liken to acting in terms of having rehearsals and a script, ballet and musicals and stuff is acting to me too, following a rehearsal and repeating it etc

Most wrestling is improvised. Outcomes are predetermined and big spots are rehearsed but the wrestlers decide how to work a match in the ring
