Not entirely sure on my bottom three, which were getting swapped in and out a lot.

david lynch
chan wook park
andrei tarkovsky
michael haneke
david cronenburg
takashi miike
satoshi kon
lynne ramsey
john carpeneter
shane meadows
paul thomas anderson
david fincher
nicholas winding refn
stanley kubrick
martin scorsese
todd haynes
william friedkin
the safdie brothers
andrea arnold
yorgos lanthimos

Any predictions for top 5?

PTA, kubrick, tarantino, lynch and… abbas kiarostami.

Coen bros

Feel like he should be higher, just look at that list.

Haven’t seen French Connection or The Exorcist yet :grimacing: Killer Joe was full on and quite decent, though three couples walked out in the screening I saw - about a quarter of the audience tbh

Scorsese instead of Tarantino, probably Wes Anderson too.

Pls no

Thanks @AQOS, great work as always.

I have only ever seen Dancer in the Dark of his films. Maybe it was Melancholia we started to watch and I had to turn it off. DitD was just so depressing and in the end I couldn’t work out what the point was to watching it.

If I’m honest it’s Spike Jonze’s music videos that I love best

100% is such a classic video and a classic song

(I think he only filmed the skating bits TBF)

Actively liked Hurt Locker, probably never going to watch 0 Dark 30, need to watch Near Dark, Point Break is perfection

Detroit was well done but very heavy and grim and felt a little conservative in attitude - not terribly so, and could just be my bias after hearing that Zero was a bit too kind to the Americans

91???

you saw nothing

I mean I can’t believe you missed off Strange Days. What a film. Cameron’s writing and her direction, plus Skunk Anasie inexplicably the biggest band in the world and thus asked to play to usher in 2000?! Anyway, it’s a crazy film and really vile but it’s such a good piece of sci-fi noir.
