Just the old separating art from the artist debate I guess. If I was making a list of my top 50 music artists then The Smiths, Michael Jackson, The Beatles would all be in there, same goes for directors. Maybe Iā€™m just drawn to utter bastards, idk.

Yeah I get that tooā€¦ not sure I could ever watch Manhattan again for instance. Iā€™m just a total sucker for dialogue driven films about pretentious people, itā€™s catnip for me.

I loved Annie Hall but given what I read about Manhattan I canā€™t really bring myself to watch that one. Midnight in Paris was pretty sweet too, might have been obvious targets but one of the best take-downs of ā€œthings used to be better in my dayā€ Iā€™ve seen

Gershwin soundtrack
Gordon Willis cinematography
Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep

youā€™d have a better film than the one that got made.

Have you seen anything by Whit Stillman? Feel like theyā€™d be right up your street - I loved Love & Friendship and Metropolitan, and plan to watch Last Days of Disco soon.
