Just bought a couple of Alasdair Grays last week. Read a couple of his short story books a few years back and always enjoyed them so finally grabbed a couple of his novels
Keep meaning to read Lord Dunsany
Love Clarice Lispector
Excellent. Hope you enjoy it. Just bought a kindle book by your Sriracha bloke
Which one?
Journey By Moonlight would be a top five novel if we were doing that, for sure!
It’s your thread dude, if you want it deleting I won’t be annoyed
Nah, I was being precious. It would be better with a drop down tag thingy but it doesn’t really matter
aw man
I mean, I understand; the first 60 pages or so are maddening at first. I guess you were maybe defeated by that bit?
I was probably being more of a tryhard than I should have been with the order, but it is actually based on things I’ve read that I starred in my ‘list’ (which means I particularly liked them at the time). My list only goes back 5 years though
Also I worked just off Byres Road for a few months about 15 years ago, think it was just round the corner from his house as I used to see him pottering about all the time
@wonton any chance of revealing how many points Homer and Atwood got?
The Girl Who Wasn’t There. I was tempted by ‘Kaffee Und Zigaretten’ but I realised it might not be as easy to translate the rest of the book as it was to translate the title
I’ll do all the points when I do the whole list, complete with most popular titles. Probably post it tomorrow, though
stats! stats! stats!
Good choice, I hope you enjoy it. Its kind of split into two “acts”
Bought Poor Things and The History Maker
Previously read At the End of Our Tethers and Ten Tales Tall & True
Obviously need to get Lanark eventually as well
Read Catch-22 and thought it was fine but it didn’t connect with me particularly.
Yes please. That post shall be bookmarked and I’ll be visiting it many many times to expand my very narrow literature experience
I remember enjoying them but don’t remember anything about them tbh
I love the design of his books, inside as well as out
