Today they’ve released their first new material since 2016 in the single The River, presumably with an album to follow at some point next year.
These guys’ debut album is an all timer, and they only emerge every ten years, so this is a big deal for me. Here’s a couple of their greatest hits (imo) for those who are unfamiliar with them.

I really like the second album too, but yeah, the s/t is in a league of its own. Could very well be in my top ten fav albums.

Wonderful news. They literally do release an album every decade. Can’t wait for the fourth one in 2036.
Just checked the length times of the tracks and this new album is about 15 or so minutes shorter than II. 
I know it’s a bit of a weird thing to complain about, but when you wait so long for a follow-up, you can’t help but want for an album to be on the longer side. Hope they aren’t dialling down the proggier aspects of their music too much in this new one.
Well that’s the “ultra limited” vinyl pre-ordered. Lovely stuff.
This is the best one yet methinks. More experimental than the other two songs they’ve released.

The new album is out today. Just gave it a listen and, based on first impressions, it’s excellent. A lot more succinct, direct, upbeat and celebratory than their previous albums, for better or worse. The Gift is an outright party song, which I wasn’t expecting. There’s something of The Avalanches about it. My only complaint is that the album is too short. A couple of songs fade out far too quickly, and while there’s zero filler, some of the psychedelic noodling of the first two albums is missed. I can’t help but wish there was a Song for Elizabeth or For the Fallen, to break up the pace and slow things down a bit.
But still, this will no doubt be among my favourite albums of the year. It’s a crime how under the radar this band is. They just do not miss.

Every time I put the album on, I’m knocked sideways by its brevity. Quite a stark contrast to their previous album where the majority of the songs were over 5 minutes long.
