Net spend (insert picture of net spend arsenal guy here) has been better last few years, but yeah that’s mostly because of some high profile, expensive outgoings. Can’t see Hazard lasting beyond next summer so that will probably continue for a while. We’re still spending on players - it’s just that the ones we’ve bought this year don’t really seem to have bolstered the squad much.
Conte isn’t blameless, he is very stubborn with the players he likes and doesn’t really use the squad enough, but our transfer dealings this summer have been nonsensical really. It’s like we’ve learnt nothing from the botched title defence two years ago.
