It’s astonishing really, the first film was made for 5 mill. What was all that money spent on?

Garden Bridges?

Ha! The one late-period Carpenter I’ll (tentatively) go to bat for is Vampires. Good, brutal B-movie fun.

Vampires starts strong and it’s always great to see Sheryl Lee. Ghosts of Mars is like a bad version of his greatest moments, there’s the Fog, The Thing, Precinct, probably all of them in there. It is bad though, I can’t deny it. I also really hate Carpenter moving into rawk.

Never seen Mouth of Madness because frankly I’m a bit nervous. Sam Neill fucked me up once in Event Horizon and I don’t want him to do me again. There’s a more graphic nastiness that came in at some point, maybe Prince Of Darkness onward that I’m not such a fan of, he did an episode of a horror anthology, Masters of Horror I think, the ep was called Cigarette Burns and it made me feel sick.

My favourite might be the Fog. Ghost stories, thick atmosphere and I would love to be a dj with a studio at the top of a lighthouse. Would be worth the occasional vengeful revenant to get that gig.

Personally, I think it’s one of his best :+1:

He did two episodes for Masters Of Horror, one for each series

One thing I love about Tenebrae is - despite being set in Rome - almost the entire film is shot in and around 20th C. / modernist buildings and it all has this really sparse and futuristic air to it as a result.

Apparently there’s an interview with Argento on one of the recent rereleases where he says he envisioned it as being set after a nuclear war, which is why there are no old buildings and so few people

I absolutely fucking HATED Catcher In the Rye :joy: I was in my thirties when I read it though and just thought the main character was a total turd. I think I would have felt a lot differently if I’d read it in my teens

Thinking of giving Censor a go tonight. Love Niamh Algar and Michael Smiley, but haven’t seen any talk about it. Anyone seen it?

Read Catcher In The Rye at school - hated it :+1:

Read it again when Salinger died as I figured I should give such a revered classic a second chance - hated it :+1:

Fancy this. Mark Kermode loved it…

It was pretty good but not quite great. Quite a few similarities to Berbarian Sound Studio but not as arty. A lot of familiar faces in it too!

Really want to see this now

At Midnight I’ll Take Your Soul is quite the experience isn’t it

Never seen any Coffin Joe movies - always meant to because they look insane. One day…

This Night I’ll Possess Your Corpse is the follow up and maybe the best of the Coffin Joe films I’ve seen. It’s a bit slow to get going but once it does, it’s great!

I will give it a go I think, was a bit unsure of the At Midnight one just because I thought it would have dated badly but whilst the effects are a bit shabby it held up quite well so I’ll try seek the second one out
