Isn’t a large part of the book the historic bit of Godfather Part II? As a whole is it better than parts 1 and 2?
Yeah. And both films are much better than the book, which isn’t actually that good, but is perfect for a film adaptation.

American Psycho
Trainspotting
You have reminded me I’ve never seen the film despite hearing good things about it.
Tried reading the book as a teenager, but found the dialect utterly impenetrable. Should try again sometime tbh.
Saw both NCFOM and The Road before reading the books - preferred the film version of NCFOM and the book version of The Road (though neither are my favourite McArthy books)
Clockwork Orange
Do Androids dream of electric sheep?/Bladerunner
Ghost World
yeah I deff prefer the book of the Road
I’ve not read everything he’s done, but the Border Trilogy are my faves of what I have read
HEART OF DARKNESS (BOOK) vs APOCALYPSE NOW (FILM)
Best adaptions are when someone turns Shakespeare into a teen comedy
or Jane Austen
Or Nathaniel Hawthorne
The film is such a loose adaptation of the book it’s really hard to compare them.
The book’s great, but having enjoyed it so much has made me want to re-visit the film to give it another go. Like I got what it was trying to do but it left me cold. I also didn’t realise until afterwards that much of it was improvised and some of the characters were not actors, that might make it more interesting / make more sense second time round.
Just to save a bit of time here.
Watchmen, 300, Kick Ass, Scott Pilgrim, Atomic Blonde, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell, V for Vendetta.
The books are all better.
Oh fuck all the way off. The book is brilliant.
