It felt like there were fireworks going off here from about 6pm til midnight. It was ridiculously loud at midnight! Slept okay though. Windy and wet here so will be doing lazy things round the house all day…
Anyway, tomorrow marks the start of the DAYLIGHT UPDATES that will run til the Spring Equinox. For the newbies to DiS, this is a daily reminder that spring is slowly on its way. As is tradition, the update will include King’s Lynn, The Beer Factory (Devon), Cardiff and Belfast. This year I’m going to choose Glasgow over Edinburgh because I fancied a change. There are three additional spots available and I’ll award them to the towns and cities that get the most votes!
Still in bed, wondering how long I can put off getting up. Had a fun early evening at the board game cafe last night, then frittered away the evening until midnight. Would like to start the new year with a run but it is pretty horrible out there. Might go watch Nosferatu instead, although all the local showings are at awkward times today. Maybe I’ll go at the weekend, and spend all day in bed.
Miserable weather here. Think a couple of chums are up for coffee or a walk or something but TV seems absolutely hanging (her berfday yesterday) so we’ll see how that pans out!
Was going to do Veganuary, but have some stilton left which nobody else here likes. The Guardian would pay for a piece about this?
Was in bed about 11.15pm but was reading so did see midnight. Then mini woke me up about 1am and 3am cause of the storm. So mini & Mr s_w are still snoozing, I’m on my second coffee and watching Frasier. Lovely ease into the day.
Today will be some laundry, tidying, food shopping and lazing about.
Still on my hols, which is nice even though the weather has been pretty miserable. Dog walks, bike ride, baking. That’s the plan for today and probably for 2025 tbh.

I was in bed by about 11 last night, then doom scrolled for a bit, and then I knew exactly when it was midnight because so many fireworks went off. I’m sure there were more fireworks than previous years
Anyway, today I’ll be trying to find an open shop to buy some cat food, and also kicking off this years first Jamuary attempt
Happy New Year! For a few terrifying hours, my Strava account showed I hadn’t gone for even a single run this year. I’ve rectified that, 10 miles of being basically punched in the face by obscene wind. Abandoned plans for taking my son to the park and having a small plates-style pub lunch because torrential rain is coming. Instead gonna stay in, build his Christmas Lego sets with him, take the decorations down, cook a chickpea/spinach/potato/paneer curry and listen to Mazzy Star and Nilufer Yanya. Hope the rain clears up by tomorrow as we’re trying to cram in things that go up in price when the kiddo turns 3 in two weeks and London Zoo had been pencilled in …
