  • at some point ollie pope will start scoring the runs he looks like he should be able to
  • 65 tests averaging 30

For some reason I still believe in Pope but have 100% abandoned Crawley.

man im still holding on to hameed pulling it together

Crawley’ll look a million dollars in one knock, getting a score, nick-off cheaply in the other five and be retained for the South Africa series, in which rinse and repeat.

Those first 5 balls were absolute shockers.

Thought this was wild speculation or possibly a joke but apparently it’s true! That’s where he is going! He’s never batted higher than 4 in first class cricket in his career. What the Hell!?!

Where do you even start with the guy who spooned it in the air needing 3 from 2 balls?
It’s a cracking catch but bloody hell.

Not good news at all, fear what this means for his first class future. So many injuries, I believe a similar story about the slow progress for recovery Mark Wood is facing is due out today as well.

fuck sake

is stone still out with his back as well? england bowlers who can get it above 87mph are cursed by God

He pulled up injured in a 2nd XI game at the start of the month. Believe it is a thigh strain this time

It’s just a very bad thing for the body, innit. There have been endless super-fast bowlers who have had this sort of injury nightmare, Wood and Archer, Tymal Mills, Shaun Tait, Shane Bond, Shoaib, Ian Bishop. It’s almost more unusual to make it through to any kind of long term career.

oh no doubt, just being a bit silly.

was actually listening to something a few months ago about one of the India youth setups. theres a fairly rare gene (like one in 10 or something) that’s heavily correlated with injury resilience and they’ve been doing genetic screening for their players and only pushing the lads with it to bowl fast.

was interesting if a bit bleak

Oh really? that’s interesting, can’t decide if that’s kind of exploitative or protective. Both?

yeah it’s a weird one innit, first instinct is to just go ah let them play cricket but there’s definitely something to be said for not fracturing your spine as a young fella

Seems after last week of the championship being runs galore that today has started off with lots of wickets. Maybe it was the ball…

Warwickshire top order disappointing again. Some great figures from Hampshire as usual. Worcestershire taking 6 in the first session, although it is Leicestershire, should beat them this time round after being frustrated earlier in the season

Another century from Compton. That gives him 6 centuries in his last ten matches, averaging 110 across those games. I don’t really think we have the form Kent opener in the test squad.
