Never actually played 1 apart from the Game Boy version, but I got absolutely hours of fun out of GTA2 on PS1. Overlooked game.

I played the first couple of hours on my dad’s PS4 and I know there’s a lot of happy hours of moseying around the west in my future when they get around to porting it. Don’t particularly want to give Rockstar any more money but I loved the first game so it’s almost certainly going to happen.

if you’re going to play it I’d recommend not doing much of the side stuff like hunting or fishing etc as it’s really tedious and completely pointless as every upgrade in that game is negligible and money is meaningless

story is good though and worth seeing, just treat it like an uncharted game or something

I imagine I’ll do a bit of those as I liked to do a bit of that in the first game anyways. Nice and meditative in small doeses. Definitely not going to bother hunting for upgrades and achievements though - I plan to try and roleplay as a drunk, hapless cowboy as much as possible.

Possibly yeah, I largely stopped playing games after PS2 so I’ve never devoted anywhere near as much time to IV or V other than going on rampages so can’t really compare them. V’s got one absolutely bangin radio station though.

I did loads of hunting and crafting etc in the early game and it dragged the pace down loads, later on in the game it became clear I really shouldn’t have bothered especially not early on so I recommend mainlining it until it becomes very clear whether you should be doing side stuff or not

Fair enough! It seemed to be taking ages to open up from the little I’d played so I’ll probably drive headlong through it until it’s apparent I’m at least in the main meat of the game.
