Got to a point where I’m finding my day to day easier but am also slowly accumulating responsibilities but don’t want to get accidentally promoted into a position where I have to do a load of stuff I really don’t want to do.

Where’s that in your poll ffs

I assumed you must be talking about some other JIRA from the one I know, but no, that thread does exist. What a world.

She could’ve just told you she wasn’t going to get you a present without being so passive aggressive

In my experience, The higher you go the less actual work you do

I’d separate out stress free from mentally untaxing, I think.

I like mentally taxing stuff - having to think hard has never stressed me out compared to too much work, or too short deadlines, or people changing their mind all the time.

Give me a really mentally taxing, but steady job with regular hours and that’d be my dream, I think.

It’s a very hierarchical organisation with quite well-defined job roles and there are specific tasks and responsibilities at the next level up that I don’t want to touch with a barge pole.

the people at the very top of businesses are literally employed to have lunch
and maybe persuade other rich people to part with their cash

Twice this week I’ve said “that’s a more tactical level than what I work at so you need to ask someone else to do that”
People started using tactical and strategic when talking about roles recently so I thought I would too

Best job I ever had. Got to ride about on a boat with an outboard motor and generally do very little

Everyone has started using “can you revert on this” in emails too. Don’t think it makes sense but everyone seemed to start using it one day and now I have to as well because i don’t want to miss a current buzzword

You should stop quitting to become a barman - you clearly don’t have what it takes to become a top barman

Looking up at higher jobs they always seem pretty uninspiring. I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to get a job higher than the one I’ve been doing. maybe I would if i’d found a way into something interesting.
