the last three tracks on both TKoL and AMSP are the best ones on each

Scatterbrain is low-low-key the best one on the album

also I love We Suck Young Blood’s clammy traipse

and the honeycomb catacomb vocal processing and piano part of Backdrifting

Yeah, yeah.

(really chuffed with ‘clammy traipse’, nobody’s ever summed up that song more accurately and concisely)

(sometimes you have to pat yourself on the back)

I just find it a bit dreary. Maybe I’ll listen again with the phrase ‘clammy traipse’ in mind and see if it clicks

that’s the thing - you’ve got to enjoy the dreariness

Love TKOL

I found their (seemingly maligned) set at the Park from Glastonbury 2011 INCREDIBLE

they’d never played TKOL stuff live before, or had the 2 drummer set up previously so it felt pretty cool to see them do that stuff for the first time (I really liked the album on release)

I’ve probably said that before on here… but I do like to defend this album, and that show in particular.

Yep. I had mates watching that who hadn’t listened properly since OKC and just wanted “a couple of hits”. Told em to get fucked.

Punch Up is brilliant, just sort of meanders around doing its thing really maliciously but understated for ages, but it’s also really melodic and has loads of the sort of arrangement stuff that would feature very heavily on In Rainbows happening too.

Love the delayed guitar crunches that come in after the chorus

And of course then it piles into Myxomatosis, which is a great move of sequencing

HTTT has ‘There There’ on it, which is my all-time favourite Radiohead track. But it also has ‘We Suck Young Blood’ which is my all-time least favourite Radiohead track. And the whole album sort of oscillates like that for me. ‘Oh I love this one! Urgh, I hate this one.’

With some judicious editing and adding in some superior b-sides (hello ‘Gagging Order’) it’s suddenly becomes a much much better album.

HTTT is my current ‘go-to’ Radiohead album. Its got a bit of everything on there. Still rate it 4th or 5th best but listen to it loads at the moment
