Love TKOL a great deal. As someone else mentioned, there’s an even better version of it when you add in some of the extra tracks released at the same time. Particularly ‘The Butcher’.

I’m still annoyed they broke the album up across 4 sides of vinyl though. It’s a 38 minute album FFS.

Liam Gallagher’s opinion:

“I heard that fucking Radiohead record and I just go, ‘What?!’ I like to think that what we do, we do fucking well. Them writing a song about a fucking tree? Give me a fucking break! A thousand year old tree? Go fuck yourself! You’d have thought he’d have written a song about a modern tree or one that was planted last week. You know what I mean?”

Liam on Radiohead fans:
" I’ve mellowed, but not in the sense of liking Radiohead or Coldplay. I don’t hate them. I don’t wish they had accidents. I think their fans are boring and ugly and they don’t look like they’re having a good time."

Hey I may be boring and I may be ugly and I may not be having a good time time but uh…
Fair dos you’ve got my number there.

In fairness a song* about that 500-year-old shark would have been much better.

Feel like baby shark would be really poignant if it turned out to be how young that 500-year-old shark felt inside

It’s 50% great 50% :grimacing:

For me it’s they’re second worst album but when I’ve added in the extra tracks that didn’t make it onto the album I’ve really enjoyed it. If it had them on it would probably go above Amnesiac, AMSP and HTTT in my list.

It’s better than at least 3 other Radiohead albums tbh tbf

My desert island Radiohead album. Not their masterpiece but it’s the one with all the best bits from all the other albums.

Backdrifitng, Young Blood, Scatterbrain let the side down. Backdrifitng has a particular nails on blackboard shrillness to it.

I like all of those tbh. Think the record as a whole just fits in my head really nicely

I’ve softened on Young Blood over the years, but it’s probably still my least favourite of their piano led pieces. Sail to the Moon is far better.

the last three tracks on both TKoL and AMSP are the best ones on each

Scatterbrain is low-low-key the best one on the album

also I love We Suck Young Blood’s clammy traipse

and the honeycomb catacomb vocal processing and piano part of Backdrifting

(really chuffed with ‘clammy traipse’, nobody’s ever summed up that song more accurately and concisely)

(sometimes you have to pat yourself on the back)

I just find it a bit dreary. Maybe I’ll listen again with the phrase ‘clammy traipse’ in mind and see if it clicks
