I replayed TLOU1 this week. It’s still extremely good (probably in my top 10 ever), and the PS4 remaster is very crisp and satisfying to look at.
Hopefully in the sequel they do better at telling you what kind of combat encounter you’re in. Half of the encounters you can sneak past, and in the rest you have to clear out all the enemies. But you don’t know if it’s the latter until it kicks off.
E.g. you end up sneaking for a bit, stealthily taking out a couple of enemies, then suddenly loads more will charge at you and you’ll wonder how you got noticed. Then you might die, and try the same thing again (thinking you made a mistake and got seen somehow) while being extra careful… but have the second wave of enemies charge you anyway. It’s easily fixable too, if a character said out loud “we’re going to have to kill everyone here to get further along” or something to that effect. It’s one of the handful of issues that was a bit iffy at the time but is very noticeable now.
