felt extremely star trek the next generation filler episode. i think im bored of this? only four episodes in. really wish something would happen, i think hes made like one decision thats affected the story so far, which was saving baby yoda which he was obviously going to do the moment baby yoda appeared on screen. so far its just been stuff happening to him, him reacting to the thing. this week it was even worse, he arrived on that world and those two guys were like will you help? and he was like nah you cant afford me. and they were like actually we’re so skint we cant even get home or whatever and he was like oh well i will help then. just doesnt seem to give a shit about character at all. really hope it picks up, cant see it tbh

Dunno: surely theyve positioned him as a bounty hunter that tries to follow the code and also as a (adopted) member of a tribe with its own ruleset too. Despite this he breaks the code to do the ‘right’ thing and save Baby Yoda and despite supposdely being mercenary he cant help but assist these folk. His character is basically conflicted then. His ‘good’ nature conflicting with his oaths and allegiances.
Also, ‘stuff just happening to him’ : he’s a minor figure thats a pawn in a much larger scheme that we aren’t fully aware much less him and he’s having to react following saving Baby Yoda.
Fair enough I reckon.

that’s not why he helped them, he helped because he overheard them say that their village was really remote and he asked could they provide him shelter so it would be a good place to hide out

i mean yeah it would be fair enough if he wasnt the protagonist. lazy writing tbh

Fairly typical of sci-fi/fantasy shows to have a protagonist who is of humble origins who gets caught up in a grand scheme where they are more important than could have been imagined at the outset though?

  • Farmboy orphan becomes saviour of galaxy wide rebellion while become some kind of magic ninja.
  • Lad who lives under the stairs becomes member of magic Bullingdon Club and saves world.

nah she’s not really

Cant comment on either your legs or Gina Carano’s without sounding very weird.
Different legs for different people.

After reading this thread today you did a Google search of Gina Caranos legs:

I don’t care I definitely did.

I mean yeah but I don’t really get why people think this episode is somehow less original than the others which all also follow a gunslinger trope while including a lot of computer game style weird level-ups and side-quests, that are even less appealing.

Fair play

just watched 3&4. enjoyed all the stereotype bits. shooting people on roofs who fall off etc.
the AT-ST bits were like Indiana jones/king kong.

none of it was original but its star wars innit.

I wasn’t going to watch this, but Baby Yoda is already the greatest meme star of all time so I have to

I see all this stuff is coming out next year, was thinking it’d be weird not to have it out for Christmas but it would be equally weird for them to sell absolutely loads of a toy based on a tv show no one over here is watching legally.

Weird but not unprecedented. Our primary school was absolutely FULL of Gremlins merchandise even though we were all 6-7 years away from being able to legally watch a 15 movie
