Absolutely loved that episode. Brilliantly directed by Peyton Reed, he has such a good sensibility for action. Think that’s the best of the ‘adventure of the week’ episodes they’ve done for sure. Loved X-wings as police and the chase down on to the planet. Loved the giant spider chase. Loved the frog woman. Liked the weird touches like Baby Yoda eating the eggs. I will say this every week, but imagine showing that to someone forty years ago and telling them that’s what TV looks like now.

The creature design in this show is so good. Baby Yoda is just such a win (even if he is just a furless gizmo) and I really enjoyed the lizard/frog person and spiders in this last episode.

Can’t stop thinking about MEAT then this article came up on io9 and it’s getting fucking worse https://io9.gizmodo.com/this-is-not-the-way-baby-yoda-1845620350 also contains at least are partially palatable explanation in the comments

Cheers @1101010 .

Annoys me that baby yoda is 50 but he’s really immature. he’s older than his babysitter ffs.

So does he have a 50 yo brain but in a baby body? but he also acts like a baby? and has done for 50 years?

He knows better but is aware of how cute he is and chooses to act that way as it just makes his life easier. Pretty smart really.

Unless I’ve missed something, the overarching plot for this current run of episodes is that Mando is trying to find other Mandalorians…in order to find the Jedi. That doesn’t make much sense to me – putting aside how weird it is that he’d not even heard of the Jedi before the Armourer told him about them in Chapter 8.

That bothers me more than anything being a ‘filler’ or ‘monster of the week’ episode. You can’t really judge whether something is critical to the story week-by-week. Chapters 5 & 6 could have been called filler episodes but this latest episode picked up several elements from those and used them well – Amy Sedaris’ character, the Richard Ayoade droid, and most of all the consequences of the prison break for Mando and how he views the New Republic.

Also, these tangents and setbacks are really fun. If everything furthered the quest it’d be tedious. I like that we’ve not seen Moff Buggin’ Out since last season, and that we’re not immediately finding out more about Fett.

Prepared to let it all slide for action sequences as fantastic as the X-Wing chase and the spider encounter, anyway. That’ll get old eventually but seeing those kinds of effects on TV is still really impressive to me.

The canyon chase annoyed me because Firefly showed how stupid they were a very long time ago.

All you have to do is fly above the canyon and shoot down.

X-Wing have fixed guns though

I did think the X-Wing would have just blown him out of the sky TBH. You don’t let the possible Impies get away with stuff

And dogs can’t look up, but they manage somehow. :supervillain:

Hah hah. They’re not trying to blow him up at that point (although they should).

Yoda’s role in the original trilogy is of a spiritualistic, almost pacifist, living completely in tune with nature. He represents the good side of the battle against the violent and highly technical Empire. He’s shows us what a Jedi, why we should want Like to become a Jedi and why we should think the Jedi are good and should win. The prequels having him as actually the head of the weird authoritarian space CIA and also a crazy little killing machine, ruins what his character in the Originals is imo.

Me with a box of Lindt at Christmas mirite.

The first thing I thought of this morning when I woke up was:

“What if Baby Yoda is incubating those eggs and they come back into play later on?”

Don;t know why that thought flashed into my head but, judging against the slow pace of this show, who knows eh!

Same here. I thought all the eggs were gonna be destroyed and then Baby Yoda voms a few up at the end to save the species.

To spend an entire week on one point in an episode is really impressive

Though the Frog Lady herself never seems to notice that the number of eggs in the canister keeps shrinking

this is what bothered me too, and also how long it took them to put them back in the incubator when it looked like there were less than 15 left
