Enjoyed that, great fun. I don’t really know who Boba Fett is (please don’t tell me) , didn’t seem to matter too much though

I’m guessing Mando is going to end up inheriting Slave I now his ship has been destroyed. Boba gets killed by Darth Gus Fring or something.

He better change the name then or he’ll get cancelled.

Watch Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi

still think it’s really fucking stupid they brought him back. Fans should be smarter than to just accept it because he’s fanservice.

It’s been part of The Canon for ages that he escaped the sarlacc pitt. Obviously it’s gratuitous fan service but that’s the whole show, so I’m ok with it.

Thought it was the usual plotless mix of cameos of things you recognise and video game quests but fuck me this was shit even by those standards. Didn’t work as an entertaining shoot em up because there were no stakes at all, just endless respawning waves of Stormtroopers who’ve never killed anybody and are always dispatched immediately. The Mando tried to get into Baby Yoda’s forcefield and got pinged up into the air about 5 times, thought Disney Plus had glitched and it was looping the same minute over and over but no that was just the episode.

It was a bit silly when that woman ran away from the space bullets and Boba Fett beat them up with a stick.
Although, it is cool the design of that stick takes a lot from Maori culture and Boba Fett’s actor is of Maori descent.

Will admit the final time he did this I thought the same. Mainly I was like, “Why would you run to get him instead of taking the 30 secs to put your rocket pack back on and fly up there?” and then it turned out that was a whole plot aspect so he couldn’t chase those Dark Trooper goons, which was a bit of a sigh. Much better for the jetpack to be damaged in the fighting.

I enjoyed this episode mostly. Not happy with them trying to make Boba Fett a big thing but I guess I’ll have to go along with it.

Did think calling it ‘The Tragedy’ was a shame as it telescoped he was going to fail to keep hold of Grogu. Without that I’d actually have had a bit of tension around the Dark Trooper bit.

Also not sure how many people have watched loads of Agents of SHIELD and Discovery but I like how Mandalorian has got Ming Na Wen in while Star Trek Disco seems to be trying to go full AoS with its ridiculous Emerald Chain plot.

friendship with baby yoda has ended. now frog lady is best friend

I liked that about it. Mind you, I like things where the chapter title tells you what is about to happen, and then it happens. It’s done it all the way through the series, really.

Also, I’ve started referring to Boba Fett as Feta Bob, which might be the daddest dad joke ever made.

The Siege or The Jedi (for example) don’t tell you how those episodes will end though.

I don’t think fans are particularly ‘dumb’ to just take his return at face value - no doubt, we’ll be getting a scene where Boba recounts how he survived the Saarlacc. The show is called The Mandalorian - how could the showrunners concieve such a premise without thinking “Boba could potentially be in this”. As long as it is done well, and I think his introduction was good, it’s more than just simple fan service.

Albeit I’m a huge SW fan, I would find it more henious to see something like “Mace Windu is the Jedi that Grogu conencted with through the Force” and see SLJ back in the role. Not because I don’t like the character or the actor, but that really would be a quizzical decision perhaps made for just servicing the fans.

EDIT: Or, even as I sit here thinking, including Ahsoka is more ‘pandering to the fans’ than including Boba, if anyone wanted to look through that prism. This is a show about a bounty hunter and his people, throwing in a fallen Jedi with her own agenda does/could seem a little out of place?

I dunno, I’d never heard of her and if she’s only in the cartoons, then it’s a lot more interesting to me than someone from the OT that will score more points with the fans

Is boba fett ever actually named in either of those films?

He is in ROTJ.

Boba Fett, badly shaken, rises from the deck. He looks over at the
other skiff, where Luke is whipping a mass of guards. Boba raises his
arm, and aims his lethal appendage.

Chewie barks desperately at Han.

HAN
Boba Fett?! Boba Fett?! Where?

The space pirate turns around blindly, and the long spear in his hand
whacks squarely in the middle of Boba’s rocket pack.

Quite enjoyed that one, in a Wages Of Fear / Sorcerer sort of way. I presume they are saving the fireworks for the finale next week, but this was a decent simple story done well. Good to see Boba Fett’s armour all cleaned up, but I reckon the seismic charge was maybe a little bit too much fan service when some lasers would have done the job just as well.
