Liked some of their first album, good live band. Not sure about this one. But I’m glad that several reviews have mentioned that they sound like U2 cos everyone seemed to be skirting around that on the first one
First album had a couple of decent tunes, live I thought they sounded good but seemed really insufferable.
Haven’t heard any of the new stuff yet
They were still doing the bit where yerman sits and smokes pensively at the side of the stage during the instrumental tune when I saw em at Prima
Agreed Crying was the highlight on a good album. Need to go back to the last one, remember I liked it but nothing else of it.
First time I saw them before they’d released anything they did a thing where the band started up and then the singer ran to the stage from the back of the room. He bumped into me and I spilled half my pint down my front. This may have coloured my view of them since

Enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would, especially after how ambivalent I was about the last one. Feel like this one has a bit more going on in it.
On my second listen now and yeah, this seems very good.
Loved the debut but I’m glad they shook things up a bit.
I liked the debut but in a crowded field it didn’t sit right at the top of my post punk listening at the time. Much prefer the lighter, artier sound of this and have had Return My Head playing non stop for days.
Somewhat enjoying this new record, unfortunately they start sounding like The Killers at points

Enjoyed this. Love Return My Head, Only Good Things and A Thousand Lives - it’s also reminded me to put this choon back into rotation
One good thing about these lads is that they love bringing Junior Brother on tour with them

Prefer this one to the debut. The debut had 3 tracks I really like, new one has 6 or 7.
Seeing them in Leeds in a couple of weeks.

Pretty much my take too. A lot more of this is landing for me than on the debut.
This feels like a real grower too.

The twinkling airiness of the guitar (advanced musical term) is a really cool place to go from the darkness of the first, and the singer’s delivery feels more natural too.
Feel like this could really get under my skin.

The singles, as of themselves, did nothing for me but they just work better as part of the album. As a whole, it is very much growing on me.

“Ethel” reminds me Protomartyr and this is the best compliment that I can give for now.
It doesn’t remind me of Protomartyr but, nevertheless, it’s a bloody good song.
