Anybody seen it yet? I have to say considering how much I love the original show and was totally scared by the trailer, I thought it was more than OK. Never expected it to be anywhere near the original but I wasn’t disappointed. That’s enough for me.
I’m listening
I can’t bring myself to even look. Watching Frasier without Niles, Martin, Daphne and Roz would be like listening to a Beatles album without John, Paul and George for me.
the first few minutes I felt like i was gonna be disappointed but got better after, does feel little like a typical american comedy of this time when the original feels timeless for the most part (but that might just be me having watched it so often that it’s become a comfort thing)
I wasn’t too impressed by the first two episodes - there’s a few laughs in there but it just doesn’t feel like Frasier really. And Niles/Daphne’s son is a terrible character on early evidence, there’s only one Niles Crane and only one David Hyde Pierce and he isn’t it.
Started watching the first episode but had to pause as had visitors.
Was both excited and unsure beforehand, now, disappointingly more of the latter. Will continue to watch to give it fair chance but yeh, not overly optimistic.
Episode 1 was… ok. Surprisingly fine. It wasn’t hilarious, it wasn’t great television, it wasn’t without it’s issues. But it exceeded my very low expectations and Kelsey Grammer slips back into character pretty flawlessly. I do agree that trying to replace Niles with his son doing a bad impression of him isn’t promising, but otherwise, there’s a gleam of hope that by the end of it I’ll be more or less happy to have heard more from Frasier. As reboots go, that’d make it one of the better ones.
Are we certain the script for episode 1 wasn’t written with AI?
The problem is it’s not the same show so it had all of the challenges of a pilot along with all the baggage of a reboot. I’ll stick with it for a couple of episodes but not impressed at all. Very lazy writing
I wasn’t as impressed with episode 3. Like I said it’s nowhere near the genius of the original BUT it is watchable. Will be nice to see Roz and Lilith at some point.
Terrible ![]()
So weird to see such obvious sets in 2023.
I’m still watching. Not going to pretend anymore. It’s bad ![]()

I thought episode 2 was bad, episode 3 even worse (the type of reboot episode that starts ruining the original) and then episode 4 was… kind of decent? Might just be that my expectations had been sufficiently lowered, but the characters seemed to click a bit more, feel less forced/more natural. The writing a bit funnier.
That said, regardless it has taken a great show and turned it into a cheap outdated shitcom. Even in its most enjoyable moments, it’s still that.
Watched the first 2 episodes out of curiosity and kinda forgot about it till this thread popped up, so watched the other 2 last night.
It’s dreadful, just feels so forced and you can see the jokes coming a mile off. Ultimately the cast just isn’t very good, Kelsey Grammer aside.
This may be a minor thing but in the original it was clear that Frasier did very well for himself but a couple of times now they’ve made it clear just how rich he is and it just feels crass.
It’s like watching a car crash.
I watched all of this because I don’t respect my time.
95% crap. Lyndhurst and Grammar have good chemistry but then they keep pairing off the former with the other annoying castmates. Last episode could have been a Big Bang Theory script.
There’s actual potential in there, and hints that they were figuring out dynamics and all the usual early-days sitcom stuff, but man who cares
I also watched the whole thing. It’s crap, but I didn’t hate it… It did get a little bit better as it went along and the characters did develop some chemistry. But like you say, what’s the point really? Even if it gets better, for what? So we can watch Frasier throw a dinner party where everything goes tits up the millionth time? What have they got left to write about? They’ve made it easy by setting up characters with similar dynamics to the original show, but that leaves them with nowhere to go after like 300 episodes of Frasier (which was wearing thin by the end anyway).
Ultimately, I watched it for nostalgia and posterity. Would I watch what is essentially a passable US studio sitcom like that under any other circumstances? Nah, not my bag at all.
This was the key to original Frasier, so often you could tell what the punchline would be but they always delivered it so well, it still made you laugh
Completely agree with these posts, nailed it
Was worth sticking with it to remind myself that Roz is still my dream woman
It’s frustrating because the Frasier and Freddie dynamic is a good idea and Freddie’s actor got better as it went along, but it’s like a different show wearing the old show’s clothes. I’d probably be more forgiving if there was a slight change in format the way the original Frasier took a left turn from Cheers.
Grammar wants it to keep going (of course) so maybe it’ll grow into its own but I’ll need some convincing that can even happen at this point.
also yes. Glad she’s still living her firefighter-chasing best life.
and Lillith returning was the highlight of the season imo.
