The noticer

Notice something and become the noticer.

I noticed that if you pay for something with a 50p pence and three 20p pieces it’s somewhat confusing For the cashier. If something costs 95p, or £3.95 or whatever, and you use this combo of coins, I think the brain automatically thinks there must be a superfluous coin in there, but there isn’t.

I can’t speak for all money-handling counter people, but no this would not fox me.

I dispute this: as far as I’m concerned, the position is vacant.

I didn’t suggest it would fox anyone, merely be somewhat confusing. Somewhat being a deliberately variable qualification.

I was loose with my use of ‘foxed’, I will admit.

It doesn’t apply to you so I wouldn’t expect you to be somewhat confused. The person who just served me in pret very much suffered from this, and I noticed it.

I commend your spirit in setting out to establish this position (The Noticer), but regardless, I believe there is a new [The] Noticer - if somebody can confirm re: @ericVI’s post?

More than happy to pass the torch on, that’s what it’s for. As for verifying, I think it’s best we work on trust here.

I’ve very recently noticed that @Acorn is fastidious in the designation of the status of ‘the noticer’.

good vigilance, friend, but is this really enough to become The Noticer? I am not sure.

I’m happy to leave the title with the current holder - @anon29812515.

I noticed that I too would be confused if something cost £3.95 and someone tried to pay for it with a 50p pence and three 20p pieces
