Thanks all for the recs!
Throwing it out there for The Waterboys, Blue Nile and Cocteau Twins late 80s trifecta which I’ve realised are the key influences for about 80% of my favourite music.
Yeah I wouldn’t lie about something as important as this
HEAVY STUFF
Two recent favourites that spring to mind are Ashenspire who released an incredible anti-capitalist Black Metal album a few years ago.
And Civil Elegies. (“somewhere in between Godflesh, Melvins, KEN Mode, Swans, Shellac and Lungfish.”)
The guys in Civil Elegies also have various side hustles too and they’re all great - IDEAL, K.Yalo, Moni Jitchell
Oh yeah, and Coffin Mulch!
Oh yeah meant to check out the old folky women from that. Oh not folky, pop and old is in from a long time ago.
Also was searching for something yesterday and found these comments, was laughing my head off
Great thread! I made a playlist of my favourite Scottish artists a while back, looking forward to adding more stuff thanks to this thread, some excellent recs already!
John McGeoch
Baybee
My most listened to song! According to last.fm anyway.
This album is a compilation of EP’s. It’s incredible. Easily my favourite of his.
